One Month to Go: Limerick Ready for the European Sport for All Games

With just one month to go until the 2026 European Sport for All Games, the buzz is growing as Limerick gets ready to welcome participants from across Europe for four unforgettable days of traditional sports, activity and cultural celebration.
From 7 to 10 August, Limerick's streets, parks and public spaces will be bursting with energy, with almost 50 traditional sports and games on display. People of all ages will have the chance to watch, join in and enjoy activities from right across the continent.

Organised by Limerick Sports Partnership alongside TAFISA, Limerick City and County Council, the University of Limerick, Mary Immaculate College, Sport Ireland and a wide network of local and European partners, the Games will bring together more than 26 European delegations for a vibrant celebration of participation, inclusion and sporting tradition.

The European Sport for All Games are designed with the need for sport and physical activity to be accessible to everyone. The event will create plenty of chances for locals, families, communities, visitors and participants to come together through movement, shared experiences and a love of tradition.

There will be no shortage of things to try and see, with activities including Horseshoe Throwing, Barrel Rolling, Tamburello, Serbian folk wrestling, Pljo?kanje, Tchoukball, Dance, Tug of War, Pulli Dog, Misket (Marbles), Topaç (Spinning Top), Gymnastics and much more.
For TAFISA, the European Sport for All Games are a great example of how traditional sports and games can bring people together across generations, cultures and borders.

In the words of TAFISA President Janez Sodržnik:
"The European Sport for All Games are designed to celebrate the power of traditional sports and games to connect people across borders, generations and cultures. Limerick provides a unique setting for this year's event, with its historic city centre, strong sporting identity and commitment to making physical activity accessible to all."

With just one month to go, preparations are in full swing to make Limerick a true meeting place for Sport for All - a place where communities and visitors can discover new activities, celebrate European traditions and enjoy the fun of being active together.
